Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has issued an official opinion that Virginia police officers can follow in Arizona’s footsteps and ask for immigration status on routine stops. A 2008 Virginia law requires that law enforcement check the immigration status of anyone taken into custody on suspicion of having committed a crime. Cuccinelli’s opinion could expand such inquiries to those who have been stopped by law enforcement for a traffic violation or at a police checkpoint, for example.
Here is a simple question for all of you who do not know the attorney general.
Which party does Ken Cuccinelli belong to?
a) Democrat
b) Republican
c) Independent
d) Green Party
This simple question is likely to get over 90% of correct answers. Of course the correct answer is b. What is surprising here is that why is it so easy for everyone to predict this? Are republicans more racists and anti-immigrants than others? Or, are they plain hypocrites?
