The city that can no longer sleep

New York, the big apple. The city that never sleeps. The energy, the accumulation of power and money all in one place in that tiny island. The place for arts, music and more. If you ever lived in NYC, or visited NYC, or live close enough to enjoy the city, you know what the city has to offer. The vibrant night life. We can keep on counting all the amazing things that NYC has to offer, but it also has something that neither one of us can ignore anymore.

Terror. Just that simple word alone can send some chills down some people’s spines. The last thing we need is any sort of attack on Times Square to send this country to madness. It is true NYC will bounce back, move on with daily life, but the aftermath will be felt elsewhere in the policies that come out of washington. We already have enough panic and profiling everywhere starting with the rednecks in Arizona, it will only be a matter of time before it slowly trickles its way upwards and cross the bible belt.

Post factum is not going to take us anywhere. It is time for the people of NYC, especially the ones in the government to stop sleeping and start acting. We need to prepare ourselves and prevent any such acts of terrorism before it even gets planned. All of us can talk and write all we want, but at the end of the day, there will be no one to answer the loved ones of the victims if any. 911 victims are still going through deep pains long after the media curtains have fallen down and the reporters have gone home.

Winning the hearts and minds of people is a tougher challenge and easier to brush aside and ignore. Unless we take steps towards this direction will will be fighting a ghost forever.
